Energy & Emissions™
Technical efficiency and energy optimisation for vessels in service
Energy diagnostics, EEXI / CII / SEEMP III compliance, and measurable improvements in operational performance
Data-driven energy efficiency and real operational improvements.
A vessel’s energy efficiency depends on its technical condition, daily operational practices, and propulsion configuration.
Compliance with EEXI, CII, and SEEMP III requires specialised analysis, real operational data, and technical actions that deliver measurable results.
Energy & Emissions™ combines energy diagnostics, techno-propulsive analysis, and operational improvements aimed at reducing fuel consumption, improving the emissions profile, and optimising vessel performance under real operating conditions.
We focus on practical, economically viable solutions, tailored to the vessel’s operational profile and sustainable within the crew’s actual resources..

Why is this service important?
Compliance with EEXI, CII, and SEEMP III without compromising vessel operability.
Measurable improvement of the vessel’s emissions profile and energy rating.
Traceable technical reports and evidence suitable for audits and inspections.
Reduction of fuel consumption and associated operating costs.
Optimisation of the maintenance budget and spare parts expenditure linked to energy performance.
What does it include?
Vessel energy assessment. Analysis of actual fuel consumption, operating conditions, installed power, trim, and speed profile.
EEXI and CII calculations, and SEEMP III update.Technical–propulsion modelling, definition of corrective measures, technical documentation, and compliance scenarios.
Operational efficiency improvement. Daily operational recommendations (speed profile, power utilisation, routing, and trim) tailored to the vessel type and real operating conditions.
Consumption monitoring and KPIs. Dashboards and performance indicators for consumption tracking and early detection of efficiency deviations.
Annual emissions report. Technical and documentary follow-up in line with internal audit, Class, and Flag requirements.
Assessment of alternative energy solutions. Technical and operational feasibility studies for LNG, biofuels, hybridisation, and emission-reduction technologies, where applicable.
Case study – Short-sea passenger vessel
Operational energy optimisation and improvement of the CII rating.
Situation
- High fuel consumption on short routes due to operation with variable RPM and no reference to propulsion efficiency curves.
- Progressive deterioration of the CII rating, with an expected downgrade from C to D in the coming years.
- Lack of historical consumption analysis and absence of propulsion performance assessment correlating load, speed, and power.
- SEEMP III implemented, but without operational metrics or effective monitoring of performance objectives.

How did we help?
Blue Efficiency Marine™ carried out a comprehensive technical intervention focused on fuel consumption reduction, including:
- Vessel energy diagnosis, based on historical operational data (24 months).
- Propulsion efficiency modelling, integrating CPP operation and SFOC curves.
- Adjustment of operational setpoints and speed policy, differentiated by voyage type and operational profile.
- Optimisation of operational trim under different loading scenarios.
- Review and update of SEEMP III, including the definition of an annual improvement plan.
Results
- Fuel consumption reduction of 8.5% under normal operating conditions.
- Improvement of the CII rating, from C to B.
- Significant annual fuel savings (approximately 5–10% of the vessel’s fuel budget).
- SEEMP III verified and fully documented for audits and inspections.
